Warning about Fiber Installation for Residents of Rattan Creek
This website is a personal blog, and is in no way affiliated with any businesses or providers of internet services.
If you're reading this, you're likely a resident of Rattan Creek in Austin, Texas. As one of your neighbors, I made this website to provide a warning to you as door-to-door salespeople from Google begin trying to sell you Google Fiber Internet.
I made the mistake of signing up, and I'd like to share with you the lessons I've learned.
What I Wish I Knew Before Signing Up For Google Fiber
Work on your property will not be performed by Google, but instead outsourced to a 3rd party contractor.
If the 3rd party contractor causes any damage to your property, Google will not take accountability, and will instruct you to work directly with their 3rd party contractor to negotiate repairs and reimbursement.
The contracting company sent to work on your home may not have a contact phone number, a public email address, a website, a LinkedIn page, or any other public presence you can find online, making it difficult for you to contact anyone or file any formal complaints.
The contractor may arrive without the coworkers necessary to complete the job, but will attempt the installation anyway.
